Jane Killin Bilbe
Jane Kilia Bilbe (née Smith), aged 87, passed away on July 18, 2024, in Santa Barbara, California. Born on November 12, 1936, in Glasgow, Jane moved to the United States where she spent many years as a dedicated bookkeeper for local restaurants and working at Williams Box Maker plant.
Jane was a person of remarkable independence and sensitivity, known for her bravery and fierce individualism. Her hobbies included dancing, which was how she first met her beloved husband, Alex. She was also skilled in arranging flowers, crocheting, and needlepoint. An avid crossword puzzle enthusiast, Jane often completed The New York Times puzzle in record time. Her evenings were joyously spent with Alex, cherishing their time together.
She leaves behind a loving family: her husband, Alex; son, Craig (April); grandchildren, Jack, Sadie, and Molly; sister, Joan Moffat (Jim); brother, Bill Smith (Anne); and several nieces and nephews. Jane was preceded in death by her son, Scott Bilbe; her parents, John and Catherine Smith; and her brother, George Smith.
Jane’s life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew her, as she truly followed her heart and touched the lives of many.
