Eric Zahm

Eric Zahm of Santa Barbara, California, died on March 16, 2022 surrounded by his wife and family. He was 74 years young.

Eric, known for his generous and loving spirit, was born to Linda and William Zahm in Queens, New York on May 3,1947. He was immediately adored by his two older sisters, Marsha and Carole. Six years later, Eric was delighted to welcome his younger brother Ronnie to the family. Eric graduated Bayside High School in his hometown of Bayside, New York. After completing cosmetology school, Eric began his career as a hairdresser in New York, then moved to Los Angeles to reunite with his sisters and their families. There, he continued his professional life in Westlake Village, building a strong clientele and creating lifelong friendships.

In 1990, Eric moved to Santa Barbara to be with the love of his life, an accomplished artist, Stacey Geldin. They married in 1995. Within a year, Eric opened Highlights Salon, where he welcomed devoted clients until just a few years ago. Since retiring from his successful career, Eric and Stacey enjoyed sharing their beautiful home with family and friends. He was completely devoted to their many dogs throughout the years, now leaving Duffy and Daisy. Traveling was a favorite for Eric, especially being on the water in a catamaran. He and Stacey regularly went on ocean cruises and land adventures together with beloved travel companions.

In addition to his wife, Eric will be forever missed by: his siblings Marsha and Bill Onink, Carole Stines and Walter Rubin, Ronnie Zahm and Karen Skerlov; his in-laws Joel Geldin and Jeanne Nelson, Robin and Len Wolff, Rhonda Geldin and Carl Meyers; his many nieces and nephews; his 3 godchildren; his longtime friends, Darlene and John Grazer, who spent many memorable times with Eric and Stacey; as well as his countless friends, colleagues, and clients.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Santa Barbara on Sunday, May 8, 2022. In place of flowers, donations to honor Eric can be made to the Ridley-Tree Cancer Center in Santa Barbara, DAWG (Dog Adoption and Welfare Group) of Santa Barbara, or World Central Kitchen, which is providing hot meals 24 hours a day to Ukrainian refugees at 8 border crossings in Poland.
