Damon Douglas Maurer Burney

DAMON DOUGLAS MAURER BURNEY passed away on December 23, 2019, Santa Barbara lost one of her native sons. Damon was the twin brother to Meighan (Happy) and brother of Scott, Dallas, and Paul. He was also the son of Doug Burney and Jan (David) both deceased. Additionally, he was the VERY proud dad to his daughter, Brooke. Damon attended local schools; Montecito Union, SBJHS and SBHS. He attended SBCC and enjoyed his work as a general contractor and was known for his carpentry. He was very proud of his finish products and many will enjoy them for years to come. Although Damon enjoyed being around his numerous friends, his first love was his daughter Brooke. A loving dad, he was always prepared to share a “Brooke story” about their latest adventure. Damon had one of the greatest smiles ever. It was fun to be around him and enjoy his spontaneity. He was a kind-hearted person, who was willing to help others in need. He will be remembered as a fun loving, kind, generous dad/friend wishing to bring happiness and peace to others. Damon was a devoted father with a creative, love of the ocean and any water sports, life-loving spirit who savored the present. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the numerous condolences. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. A celebration of life and paddle-out will be held on January 25 at 12:00 at Leadbetter Beach.
