FRANK MANCHAK, JR., 85, passed away on October 5, 2012 in Santa Barbara. Born September 12, 1927 in Portage, Pennsylvania to Frank and Anna, Russian immigrants with ten children.
Frank served in the United States Marines during World War II and became an accomplished engineer and prolific inventor. He worked on construction projects in America, Morocco, Spain and Asia. He married Joan in 1955 and lived in Spain for eight years where four of six children were born. They lived in Malaysia and Singapore for six years.
He pioneered the cleanup of hazardous waste sites and he was awarded many patents. He is remembered as a loving father and husband by his wife Joan of 57 years and six children Susan, Frank, Michael, Tina, Peter and Marie; daughter-in-laws Catherine and Gloria; son-in-law Dale; grandchildren Jon and Crystal; and siblings Mary, Sue and Paul.
