Margaret Curtice Lovig

Margaret Curtice Lovig passed away peacefully in Santa Barbara, CA.
She was born in Victoria VA to John and Mariah Brittingham. She graduated from the University of Richmond in 1941 and married football coach Cactus Jack Curtice in 1943. She lived in El Paso TX, Salt Lake City, UT, Menlo Park CA before moving to Santa Barbara in 1963.
She was on the debate team in college, offered the position of Dean of Women at the University of Utah, Served as president of the UCSB Faculty Women’s Club, and her PEO chapter. She worked for the Devereuax School for 20 years. She was a generous supporter of many local organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Planned Parenthood, Special Olympics, Transition House, and UCSB to name but a few.
She was beautiful, kind, loving and accepting of all people. You always left her presence feeling better about yourself.
She was predeceased by by her husband, and step children Gerry Ann Schabarum and Jackson Curtice. She is survived by her son Jim Curtice, six grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held March 31 at Cambridge Drive Community Church, reception to follow. At her request donations in her memory are to be made to your favorite charity or organization. Donations for a memorial garden in her honor are being accepted by the Cambridge Drive Community Church, 550 Cambridge Drive Goleta CA 93117.
