Beverly Virginia Clay
A dear friend and much loved daughter, Beverly left us on Saturday evening with her mother and close friends at her side. Ever hopeful, and a fighter to the end, she entered hospice care at Sarah House after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Beverly had lived in Santa Barbara for nearly 20 years, moving here from Fresno, California. She thrived here in Santa Barbara and made a number of close friends with her exuberant charm and larger-than-life persona. Self-described as “wild and crazy”, there was no mistaking when Bev was in the room. She was a familiar face on the Mesa, having worked at Albertson’s as a checker while attending UCSB. Beverly finally got her dream job as an event planner, where her creative talents blossomed. An extremely hard worker, she worked tirelessly to translate her client’s wishes into truly beautiful events. Her family and friends wish to thank the nurses of 6th central at Cottage Hospital, Dr. Newman, and the staff of Sarah House for their loving and compassionate care of Beverly, and her “fan club”. Friends are invited to gather and remember Beverly at 219 Balboa Drive, Santa Barbara, Saturday July 3 at 2:00pm. Beverly requested that anyone wishing to make a contribution in her honor, please donate to the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara.
