Shawn Murphy
Shawn Murphy passed away suddenly on February 11, 2009 two days before his 36th birthday. He was the son of Maryann LaScala and Wayne Murphy.
Shawn was born in Santa Barbara, California, moved to Delaware when he was 12 years old, graduating in 1991 from A.I. DuPont High School. He moved back to Santa Barbara in 1992 and worked for several years at The Lawyer Referral Service and Legal Aid. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan even though he was a Santa Barbara native and loved the outdoors, spending many summers at his grandparents’ home on the Umpqua River in Oregon.
Shawn was a wonderful man who was easy to love and was devoted to his Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, brother and sister, parents and cousins.
Services will be held at 6:30, Monday, February 16th at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Barbara on the corner of Montecito and Nopal Streets. Reception to follow at the Church hall.
Friends are welcome to stop by the service and reception. Burial will be private. Donations can be made in memory of Shawn to the Alano Club, a community 12 step program, at www.onlineAlano.org/html/donate.php
The family of Shawn Murphy wish to express their deep gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, nurses aids and staff at Cottage Hospital and Santa Barbara Rehabilitation Center who served as Angels to Shawn during his 6 month struggle to get well. God bless you for your dedication and devotion.
