The Indy hosted Santa Barbara District 1 candidates Alejandra Gutierrez, Wendy Santamaria, and Cruzito H. Cruz at a forum held at the Eastside’s “The Club” on Canon Perdido on September 23. All three candidates vying for the Eastside’s City Council seat — currently held by Alejandra Gutierrez — answered questions from moderator Ryan P. Cruz about top-of-mind issues like rent control, public safety, and the Funk Zone, among others.
