This past weekend, beret wearers and food lovers gathered at Oak Park for the 31st annual French Festival, which added Bastille Day to the celebration on Sunday the 14th. The event included more than 50 booths that offered everything from the ever-iconic baguette to French licorice, wine, and mimosas. The performances included a group of accordion players squeezing out classic French songs and the electrifying Femme Fatale Drag Show. Each day saved the best for last with the Canine Cavalcade — a chance for Santa Barbarans to showcase their four-footed best friends in front of an audience. Some performed tricks on stage, most did not, but all received generous applause and many “aww”s in the mix.
