Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter, producer, and six-time Grammy winner Brandi Carlile’s June 21 show at the Santa Barbara Bowl was, as she described on her Instagram, “a hero hang!” when captioning a pic of herself at the Bowl with Santa Barbara resident Ellen DeGeneres and legendary songwriter Bernie Taupin.
“What a delightful night with my friends in one of the most beautiful venues I’ve ever seen,” added the gracious performer, who got her start at a local singing competition where she performed Elton John’s “Honky Cat” in a bedazzled white polyester suit and her first break opening for Dave Matthews Band. Carlile also gave a “special shout out to fellow Highwoman the superb Brittney Spencer,” who opened the show.
