Proceeds from the event benefit the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum (SBMM), which is a 501(c)3 non-profit. Since 2000, SBMM has featured many artifacts and stories to share the history of the Santa Barbara Channel with more than 40,000 visitors annually and provides year-round experiential maritime history and marine science exhibits for all ages. SBMM staff and volunteers visit local elementary schools, put youth aboard a tall ship for the night or aboard a local fishing boat to experience the marine life of our channel. In addition, the Museum’s hands-on exhibits allow visitors to see the channel through a working periscope, catch a marlin, and don a hard-hat diving helmet.
