The UCSB Corwin Series is pleased to welcome composer Natasha Barrett for a virtual public lecture via Zoom on April 15, 2022 at 11:00 am.
Abstract from the artist: “I will present new work from my research project “Reconfiguring the Landscape”. Reconfiguring the Landscape investigates how 3D electroacoustic composition and sound-art can evoke and provoke new awareness of our outdoor environments. The project contains a number of modules. I will focus on why and how I am extracting high resolution spatial information from field recordings to reveal the sounds and details which we ignore or fail to engage with, and discuss my work hybridising autoethnography with computational analysis in composition.
Natasha Barrett (NO/UK) is a composer specializing in acousmatic and live electroacoustic concert works, sound-art, installations and interactive music. She has been active in this broad field since the late 1990’s. Her work applies cutting-edge audio technologies and she has produced internationally acclaimed music and research in fields of 3-D sound, sonification and geoscience.
