This is an opportunity to work, play and learn skills in all aspects of installing a rain garden- elevations, angles, overflow, planting, mulching, and more. Our basic rain basin shape has already been dug and we’ll do the rocking, fine-tuning and prettifying with plants. Planting natives will be a major part of the workshop.
Snacks, drinks, lunch and tools will be provided. The workshop is free but advanced registration is required at sweetwatercollaborative.org
The rain garden will be installed in the back yard of a home that is painted turquoise, orange and white- and many of the species we’ll be planting will mimic or compliment those colors.
Our workshops are social work parties that create dramatic results. They bring knowledge of environmental stewardship into the mainstream. We reduce water demand, reduce energy demand, and build biologically rich soil. The workshop model improves quality of life for the participants as well as the hosts who get a new system in their home.
