EE Makerspace - Art From Scrap

Create a sturdy and stylish tote bag made of reclaimed fabric and materials in the EE Makerspace on Thursday, January 23rd. Guest Artist Emily Adams will teach you how to sew a beautiful and unique bag in this intermediate-level sewing workshop.

For Beginners: if you have not used a sewing machine before or are unsure of your sewing capabilities, please join us from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm for an introductory session before the workshop. Emily will get you up to speed with a sewing machine, so you are ready to go when the Tote Bag workshop begins at 6:00 pm.

Emily Adams was taught to sew by her mother on her great-grandmother’s foot-powered Singer and began sewing her own clothes in 2007. At the time, she was a busy freelance writer and quickly discovered the meditative and calming influence of a regular sewing practice. Her work is focused on using natural fibers and building clothes that last, and her true desire is to nurture a community of sewists who support and encourage one another’s creative and practical needs. Emily teaches workshops and classes at Santa Barbara City College, the EE Makerspace above Art From Scrap, and The Crafter’s Library.

Don’t miss this chance to learn sewing from a true expert! Open to adults and teens ages 13 and up.
