toi toi toi (theater, opera) – An expression of encouragement prior to a performance, similar to ‘break a leg’ in theater.
Imagine you are in a historic ballroom, the stage lit expectantly. Seated at a resplendent table dressed in white, black, and gol under an umbrella of ostrich feathers, you are surrounded by smiling friends, old and new. An anticipatory hush falls. And something magical happens. Voices from every direction begin to sing with a merry call to join in with a toast to the evening’s promise.
Welcome to TOI, TOI, TOI* – The Choral Society’s Gala, a special event that happens just once a year! Our gala fun-raiser will be dedicated to the late Eduardo Villa, the internationally-known Metropolitan Opera tenor and long-time friend of The Choral Society.
This extraordinary gala evening begins at 5:30 pm on the picturesque terrace with a stylish cocktail hour, live flamenco guitar, and a silent auction, followed by a delectable dinner in the “La Traviata” ballroom at 6:30 pm with a program of opera classics curated by Artistic Director and Conductor JoAnne Wasserman and performed by our chorus members and guest soloists. Renowned Lorraine Lim Catering will provide the culinary fare. Space is limited, so reserve your tickets today for this fun-raiser! All proceeds benefit The Choral Society’s artistic and education programs.
