The Santa Barbara Jazz Society presents the exciting Jon Mayer Quartet featuring tenor saxophonist, Doug Webb.

Pianist Mayer, exposed to jazz at an early age listening to Charlie Parker, became a regular member of the thriving New York City music scene in the 50’s playing with such notables as Kenny Dorham, Jackie McLean, and John Coltrane. In the 60s and 70’s, he was working both in Europe and New York with the likes of Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra, Dianne Warwick, Sarah Vaughn, Manhattan Transfer and others. Today he remains an active jazz musician and teacher in LA. Rounding out the quartet are veteran players, bassist Will Lyle, and drummer Roy McCurdy.

Admission to the concert is $15 for Jazz Society Members, $25 for non-members, $7 for local jazz musicians with membership, and $5 for full-time students. Tickets are available ONLY at the door and doors open at 12:30. Seating is limited and Jazz Society members are admitted first, so plan to arrive early. Please join us for an afternoon of straight ahead jazz. For more information please call 805-687-7123 or visit our website sbjazz.org
