The Santa Barbara Jazz Society is so pleased to welcome Harlem based piano phenom, Emmet Cohen, when he swings through town on Sunday, February 17. Starting time for the concert at SOhO is 1pm featuring his all-star trio. Its the same exciting personal as last year, with Late Show with Stephen Colberts bassist, Russell Hall, and drummer Kyle Poole, recently on tour with Wynton Marsalis. The trio is known for its range and uplifting dynamism, representing Cohens kaleidoscopic sense of musical narrative, as noted in Downbeat Magazines current edition. Audience members can expect to be treated to a master class in stylistic juxtapositions, including the melding of stride, blues, church, swing, bebop, free, and contemporary styles, resulting in the innovative sound of Jazzs future. The Trio will be celebrating their newest CD just released, Dirty in Detroit. You wont want to miss this dynamic, young band. You can renew your SBJS membership at the door for 2019 the day of the concert or online on our website. Admission to the event is $15 for members, $25 for non-members, $5 for full-time students, and $7 for local jazz musicians with membership. Tickets are available at the door and doors open at 12:30pm. Tickets may also be purchased ahead of time online on the SOhO website or at SOhOs box office weekdays from 10am to 5pm. Seating is limited and members and are admitted first, so plan to arrive early. For more information, please call 805-687-7123 or visit our website sbjazz.org
