With author Elayne Klasson (The Earthquake Child) in conversation with Rabbi Steve Cohen
Congregation B’nai B’rith is proud to present a fascinating and important dialogue about what Jewish text and thought have to teach us about adoption. We’ll explore the subject through the prism of Elayne Klasson’s new novel, The Earthquake Child, the story of an adoption told through multiple perspectives including that of Joshua, the young adoptee, his desperate birth mother, and his grieving adoptive mother. Books will be available for purchase.
Elayne Klasson is the author of two books including Love is a Rebellious Bird, a finalist for The National Jewish Book Award in Debut Fiction. A transplant to the Santa Ynez Valley with a PhD in psychology, she was on the faculty at San Jose State University. Rabbi Steve Cohen is the senior rabbi of Congregation B’nai B’rith.
