This year’s production of The Christmas Revels: A Winter Solstice Celebration will be especially “spirited.”
It’s 1926, and the Duke of Rutland has come with his wife and children for a last viewing of his family’s historic manor house, Haddon Hall; sitting abandoned for over 200 years, it is slated to be torn down to make way for a modern motorway.
Imagine the surprise of these visitors when the ghosts of the many generations of Haddon Hall residents begin to emerge for their annual Winter Solstice gathering. Along with the Duke’s family, audiences are treated to a celebration that includes 800 years of glorious English and European music, colorful and boisterous country dancing, amusing seasonal traditions, and engaging storytelling.
These apparitions invite everyone to sing and dance along with them, and they do their upmost to convince the Duke that Haddon Hall must remain standing.
