The oldest blues society in the U.S., the Santa Barbara Blues Society (SBBS) will celebrate it’s 48th Birthday Show, featuring Grammy-nominated Sugaray Rayford and his band, Saturday April 5 at Carrillo Recreation Center, 1oo E. Carrillo St. Santa Barbara.

Rayford, who is from Texas has been nominated for more than 20 Blues Music Awards. He has won the BMA as B.B. King Entertainer of the Year, and two BMA’s  as Soul Blues Artist of the Year.

A singer of Gospel since he was seven, he moved to San Diego and switched to funk and rhythm and blues, then became a dedicated bluesman about 20 years ago when he joined Aunt Kizzy’s Boyz. He has also been lead singer for The Mannish Boys.

His last show for the SBBS, in 2014 was standing room only.

For advanced online ticket purchases go to www.sbbs.org. Doors open at 7:00 pm for tickets purchased online. For tickets purchased  at the door entry starts at 7:15 pm.Rayford and his band will play two sets starting at 8 pm.

The venue has an outdoor patio and a large spring-loaded dance floor. Beverages will be available, and birthday cake will be served at intermission.
