Abby Isadora Haydon will lead a Medicine Wheel/Mayan fire ceremony to connect with the energy of the Spring Equinox. The Mayan year starts on the Spring Equinox, so the ceremony is the most important one in the Mayan year.
This year the Spring Equinox falls on the day of Deer Twelve. Deer is the sign of the traveler who goes on pilgrimages to experience the beauty and spirituality of the world. Attending the ceremony and offering a piece of Copal to the fire will ensure safe journeys around the world or to the next town.
Abby will start the ceremony with smudging (sage purification), calling in the energies of the directions and drumming. Next she will light the special Mayan ceremonial fire bowl. Each person will have a chance to put a piece of Copal in the fire and offer their prayers for a safe year for themselves and loved ones.
Abby will have the Mayan Calendar and Conversion Codex for sale that will enable you to be in harmony with the Mayan year. In May Abby will begin a 4 week class through SBCC Extended Learning on Mayan Astrology. In the class she will explain the inner workings of the Mayan astrology calendar, The Tz’olkin and show you how to use it in your daily life.
