Mindful Heart Programs presents September’s “Solidarity & Compassion: Practices Of the Heart In an Unsettled World”
Several of you told me how hard it is these days to feel compassion, and how challenging it is to like people in specific and in general. These are difficult times, full of divergence. Yesterday a friend of mine asked me how we can keep our hearts open and not close down? It is important to honor ourselves even when we have a hard time feeling kindly towards others. Heart practices include loving-kindness, compassion, gratitude, forgiveness, surrender, and connection practices. Today’s speakers, Fr. Tom Carey, Radhule Weininger, and Michael Kearney will talk about how we can use practices of the heart in a way that they are helpful in this current experience. Michael Kearney will talk about self-care and ways to prevent burn-out and compassion fatigue.
As medicine for our hearts, world acclaimed pianist Petra Persolja will play for us Eric Sati and Mozart, and renowned singer and actor Fr. Tom Carey will sing and play the guitar. Poet Teddy Macker will join us again with a poem.
