Wondering what’s been going on with our weather? Join us as we admire nature’s cloud formations and spectacular sky shows with self-proclaimed “weather nut” William Selby, who will reveal secrets about California’s seasonal weather patterns and changing climates. Whether you love or hate the weather, you’ll remember this evening every time you look to the sky, feel the wind, hear the forecast, or follow severe weather news.
Earth scientist William Selby has had a lifelong love affair with the sky and all things natural history. After decades teaching in the earth sciences, he is sharing a wealth of colorful and informative images, stories, and weather events during his California Sky Watcher book tour. You will also find informative current events and natural history updates in the enduring project anchored by his Rediscovering the Golden State website.
Join our fun and friendly conversation and quench your thirst for knowledge about science and nature in Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History‘s ongoing series of free science talks held on the second Monday of every month. No tickets or reservations required but be sure to get to Dargan’s (18 E. Ortega St. in downtown Santa Barbara) at least an hour early to secure a seat and order your favorite food and drink.
