Join entomologist, photographer, radio broadcaster, and Smithsonian Research Associate Art Evans, D.Sc., for an introduction to his latest book, Beetles of Western North America, the only color photographic guide to the beetles west of the Continental Divide. This work covers 1,428 species across 131 families and is lavishly illustrated with more than 1,500 images. Over the course of eight years, Dr. Evans drove more than 8,000 miles to capture nearly half of the images that appear in the book. He will present stunning images from the book while recounting his path to becoming a coleopterist, sharing the book’s backstory, and offering up compelling bits of beetle natural history. Ordering information for autographed and inscribed copies of the book will provided during the presentation.
