Science Pub: Eyes in the Sky Raptors

Santa Barbara is home to incredible biodiversity, including a range of native raptor species: hawks, falcons, owls, and more. The rescued raptors of Santa Barbara Audubon Society’s Eyes in the Sky program can no longer survive in the wild, so they now serve to educate the public from their aviary at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. Program director Hannah Atkinson will share these birds’ stories and discuss how we can help these species thrive. Come to learn about the many birds of prey in our area, their role in our local ecosystem, and the impacts of human activity on their wellbeing.

Hannah Atkinson is a wildlife educator and Master-class falconer, and has worked with birds of prey since 2015. In this talk, she’ll share stories of raptor rescue, training, and survival from the lives of these incredible birds.
