The Santa Barbara Chamber Players (SBCP) proudly announce their third concert, scheduled for October 21, 2023, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Santa Barbara, starting at 7:30 PM. This concert marks the opening of the ensemble’s second season, promising an exceptional musical experience featuring a diverse repertoire:
· Prokofiev – Overture on Hebrew Themes: Sergei Prokofiev’s “Overture on Hebrew Themes” is a captivating blend of Jewish folk melodies and classical motifs. It’s a spirited and evocative composition that explores themes of cultural heritage.
· Wagner – Siegfried Idyll: A lyrical masterpiece, “Siegfried Idyll” is a tender and intimate composition written by Richard Wagner as a birthday gift to his wife, Cosima. It’s known for its emotional depth and delicate orchestration.
· Milhaud – La Creation du Monde: A vibrant and innovative work, “La Creation du Monde” by Darius Milhaud draws on jazz influences to depict the creation of the world. It’s a joyful fusion of classical and jazz elements.
· Dvorak – Serenade, op. 44, for Winds: Antonin Dvorak’s “Serenade for Winds” is a charming and melodic piece that showcases the beauty of wind instruments. Its lively and pastoral character captures the essence of the Czech countryside.
