Reclaim, Reconnect, Remember is the mission of the Ortega Park Steering community to activate the park, work toward preserving the cultural history, hold space in green places, and provide engaging activities for the neighboring community. This is a family-friendly gathering and all are welcome. Joyful kid activities are planned and we will have Danza Azteca ceremony at sunset.
Come join this FREE event and community altar to remember loved ones. Bring a photo or artifact or story to share in remembrance. Together we will hold a moment of silence and light for children lost due to war and gun violence. Bring your peace and your candle.
As a community, we heal together and have partnered with groups whose focus aligns with our mission in a safe and sacred space. Organizations include Moms Demand Action against gun violence, SB Urban Creeks, local high school students, sharing their art, So Good Creations sharing yummy treats, and local artists creating and sharing their work.
ALL Artists aged 12 to 24 are encouraged to bring a piece of art theme: “Reclaim, Reconnect, Remember” for an altar art exhibit where they will get a chance to win a designer jacket from SB Merch!!
Volunteers and donations are welcome and you can text 724.860.8686 for more information
