Movies in the Park – Isla Vista RPD

Grab your popcorn, friends, and favorite beach blanket because IVRPD’s “Movies in the Park” is back! Isla Vista’s favorite outdoor film screening series returns to Anisq’Oyo’ Park Amphitheater for its fourth consecutive year with a movie line up that is guaranteed to dazzle and delight. This year’s film lineup features “Throwback Classics” that will be a trip down memory lane for some, and an instant classic for others.

Starting August 23rd, the film series will kick off with the timeless “Back to the Future” – this is one you don’t want to miss! Friends and families across town will be able to enjoy an outdoor movie every Friday night in the lush and tranquil setting of Anisq’Oyo’ Park Amphitheater. IVRPD has teamed up with its partners at Isla Vista Arts, The Magic Lantern, and UCSB Instructional Development to deliver high-quality recreational programming, free to the Isla Vista community. A fifteen-foot inflatable movie screen will take center stage, providing the backdrop for this year’s movie series, backed by a Dolby sound system for an immersive outdoor cinematic experience.

Isla Vista Recreation and Park District thanks Magic Lantern for their support in continuing to provide the public screening licenses to show these films each year in the park. Isla Vista Recreation and Park District also thanks the Board of Directors for supporting free recreation programming, and a special thanks to the Guardians for ensuring that everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience.

This free outdoor event will take place each Friday in Anisq’Oyo’ Park from August 23 until October 4 starting at 8pm. IVRPD encourages guests to attend the event by bicycle, by skateboard, by foot, by bus—direct routes to the park include Santa Barbara MTD Lines 11, 15x, 25x, and 27—or by other means of alternative transportation.
