There is a place that begins every poem…
Join SBPL and previous City of Santa Barbara Poet Laureate Sojourner Kincaid for a memoir and poetry workshop. Attendees will explore their own memories and experiences to craft a memoir in poem. There will be an opportunity for attendees to participate in a public reading of their works at the end of April.
Space is limited, registration required.
About the workshop leader:
Sojourner Kincaid Rolle is a poet, playwright, and cultural activist. She served as Santa Barbara’s Poet Laureate from 2015-2017. Her books include Mellow Yellow Global Umbrella, Common Ancestry, and Black Street: Poems. Rolle has led workshops through her Song of Place Poetry Project since 1997. Her work is included in the following anthologies: The Geography of Home, What Breathes Us, and Moving Forward, Looking Back: Poems Celebrating Nature.
