Lobero LIVE presents Don Was and the Pan Detroit Ensemble on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 7:30 PM.
Six-time GRAMMY-winning musician, producer, composer, and Blue Note Records President Don Was has unveiled his new band, featuring an assemblage of jazz-leaning artists from the artist’s hometown, including longtime collaborator Dave McMurray (sax) and Luis Resto (keyboard). Additional musicians include Vincent Chandler (trombonist), John Douglas (trumpeter), Jeff Canady (drummer), Mahindi (percussionist), Wayne Gerard (guitarist), and Steffanie Christi’an (vocalist). The band will perform a mix of new originals and interpretations of songs written by artists like Yusef Lateef, Olu Dara, Henry Threadgill, and more.
