Local Indian community is hosting a Diwali “Festival of Lights” cultural program and dinner on Nov 05th in Goleta.
The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word “Deepavali”, which means “rows of lighted lamps”. Households across
India celebrate by decorating their space with small oil lamps called diyas and other colorful lights. Diwali is a celebration of the triumph of good over evil. The festival is marked with festive lights, fireworks, sweet delicacies and family gatherings.
DATE. 5th November, Saturday
PLACE: Goleta Valley junior high school, (GVJH), 6100 Stow Canyon Rd, Goleta CA
TIME: 3:30 to 9 PM
Appetizers and tea will be served from 3:30-4:30 pm, before the Cultural program which starts at 5 pm until 7.15 pm followed by
Dinner (from Masala Spice restaurant) at 7:30 PM onwards.
