Healthy Lifestyle and Mindfulness: Enriching Your Life and Improving Your Health

Approximately 80% of chronic disease and 40% of premature death are associated with unhealthy lifestyle choices. This 4-week course will cover the basics of lifestyle medicine: evidence-based recommendations for nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress reduction, social connection and avoidance of risky substance use. It will also cover how mindfulness can be used as a foundation for each of these pillars of a healthy lifestyle.

Class dates: Wednesdays, October 9, 16, 23, 30

Material and skills in the class are designed to be progressive and cumulative. Please sign up only if you are able to commit to attending all of the classes.

About the Instructor

Dr. Jay Winner has been a family physician at Sansum Clinic for over 30 years and in 1992 he founded Sansum’s stress reduction program. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a frequent presenter for their national conferences. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. He speaks widely on the subjects of stress reduction and healthy lifestyle, and he is the author of the book Relaxation on the Run: Simple Methods to Reduce Stress in Seconds.
