Silents on the Islands exhibit opening

Saturday, Oct. 5, 10 – 4

More than 250 silent movies were filmed on our Channel Islands. They starred such luminaries as Gloria Swanson, Rudolph Valentino, Douglas Fairbanks, Buster Keaton, Oliver Hardy, Stan Laurel, and many more.

Daring actors and actresses jumped off cliffs, battled pirates, swam with sharks, thwarted evildoers, and rescued mermaids.

Learn more about them at the new exhibit – Silents on the Islands – at the Chrisman Channel Islands Center,  4994 Carpinteria Ave., Carpinteria.

Silent movie historian, Betsy J. Green, will be playing ragtime tunes, and answering your questions about silent movies.

Open Tues.- Sat., 10 to 4, suggested donation $10.
