Dream Night at Bart’s – Dambrot and Refetoff

Come out to delve into a dream world with art critic, curator, and author Shana Nys Dambrot with artist Osceola Refetoff!

As a critic of art and an amateur student of Jungian psychoanalysis, I am often compelled to decode intuitive, inscrutable symbols and assemble meaning from the clues the dream or the artist leaves behind. In this new book, I’m applying the technique to my own inner self. – Dambrot

The Ojai valley has long entertained conversations about dream, myth, alchemy, and Jungian psychology. Dambrot will carry this thread as she speaks about the origin of this project within another surrealist California classic author’s work almost a hundred years ago. Accompanying photographer Osceola Refetoff will expand on our culture’s cinematic dream aesthetic and the pinhole photographs woven through the text.

Shana Nys Dambrot is the Arts Editor of LA Weekly. Osceola Refetoff’s environmental photojournalism is regularly featured on PBS SoCal’s multi-Emmy-winning program Artbound and has received the Los Angeles Press Club National Photojournalist of the Year Award.
