Deon Cole to perform at Chumash Casino Resort

 Comedian, actor and screenwriter Deon Cole is bringing his “My New Normal Tour” to Chumash Casino Resort’s Samala Showroom at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024. Tickets for the show are $49, $54, $59, $64 and $79.

Cole, who gained popularity through his award-winning role on the ABC sitcom “Black-ish,” has become a hot ticket on the stand-up circuit after being featured in three Netflix comedy specials since 2019. His latest special, “OK, Mister,” was released last month on the streaming service.

Beginning his comedy career in 1993, Cole spent most of his early years performing stand-up in various clubs and venues to hone his craft. In 2009, he joined the writing staff for “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” on NBC, leading him to become a writer for “Conan” on TBS from 2010 to 2012. Appearing frequently in comedic bits for both broadcasts, Cole was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards and three Writers Guild of America Awards.

Cole landed the role of Charlie Telphy on the sitcom “Black-ish” (2014 to 2022), which led him to win three consecutive NAACP Image Awards for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.”

Gaining significant popularity through his role in “Black-ish,” Cole also performed in the Netflix series, “The Standups,” bringing him to release his first Netflix special, “Deon Cole: Cole Hearted,” in 2019. He followed with “Deon Cole: Charleen’s Boy” in 2022 and released “OK, Mister” in September of this year. He’s also featured in the critically acclaimed “Average Joe” on BET+, and he is starring in the upcoming thriller series, “The Madness,” on Netflix in November.
