Pacific Views Talk: Climate Change in our Backyard: Impacts, Policy and Politics
In conjunction with UCSB Reads 2020 UCSB Library presents a talk by Leah Stokes, Assistant Professor of Political Science, to be followed by a public reception.
Whether it’s sea level rise in the Bay Area, hurricanes in New York City and the Bahamas, or fires and extreme rainfall leading to mudslides in our own Santa Barbara, we are already experiencing climate change. Stokes will discuss the research behind her forthcoming book Short Circuiting Policy: Interest Groups and the Battle Over Clean Energy and Climate Policy in the American States and connect it to the UCSB Reads 2020 book Rising: Dispatches from the New American Shore by Elizabeth Rush.
Stokes’s talk is part of UCSB Library’s Pacific Views: Library Speaker Series. Pacific Views is an opportunity for UCSB faculty and graduate students from diverse disciplines to speak about their current research, publications, or creative work.
