Carpinteria Chalk Walk

Carp Chalk Walk soon will transform Carpinteria’s downtown sidewalks into an outdoor art gallery, and locals and visitors are all invited to take part in the free event on June 8 and 9.

“We’re excited to bring back Carp Chalk Walk and celebrate creativity in our community,” says Kristina Calkins, Executive Director of the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center. “This event is a wonderful opportunity for local artists of all ages and experience levels to showcase their talent and add a splash of color to our beautiful downtown.”

A Weekend of Artistic Expression

Taking place on Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9, Carp Chalk Walk invites participants to unleash their artistic talents on designated sections of Linden and Carpinteria avenues. The event, which is funded by the City of Carpinteria and the Downtown T Business Advisory Board, fosters a collaborative spirit within the community.

“Carp Chalk Walk is a fantastic way to activate public spaces and bring people together through art,” says Ernie Merlan, Executive Director of Muralism, a nonprofit that provides work experience to adults with disabilities and is partnering with the Carpinteria Arts Center, Two Trumpets Communications and Carpinteria Beautiful to produce Carp Chalk Walk. “We envision residents and visitors strolling through a vibrant outdoor art gallery, enjoying the creativity and supporting local businesses along the way.”

Calling All Artists

Registration for Carp Chalk Walk is free and open to everyone – individuals, families, non-profits and businesses! Participants can register online at https://carpinteriaartscenter.org/carpchalkwalk. Free art supplies will be available for pick-up at the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center, 865 Linden Ave., on both event days between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
