ANNUAL JURY CALL TO ARTISTS
The theme for this competition is the flower of your imagination.
To nip something in the bud literally means to remove a part of the flower to stop it from growing any larger. Metaphorically, “nip it in the bud” can be used in reference to stunting any type of potential growth, and doesn’t specifically apply to plants.
JUROR of AWARDS:
FRED LEHTO
The multi-talented artist arrived in Santa Barbara in 1976 with a B.F.A. from Wayne State Univ., Detroit, Michigan. Fred discovered “photography light painting” in 2021, where he creates photographic images using different colored light sources. He sets these light sources in motion and captures the resulting images. The artists career includes working for decades at the Music Academy of the West, lead roles at the S.B. Civic Light Opera, Garvin Theater and The Genesis West Theater Group. Fred is also a current board member of the S.B. Art Association and a member of the Abstract Art Collective in Santa Barbara.
ENTRY DEADLINE: March 1st
NOTIFICATION of accepted works: MARCH 1ST
BEST OF SHOW: 3-Month Membership at the Santa Barbara Tennis Club.
EXHIBIT DATES: March 7th – April 2nd
RECEPTION & AWARDS: March 14th, 4:30 – 6:00pm
IN-GATHERING: MARCH 6th, 9:00am
TAKE DOWN: April 3rd, 8:00am – 9:00am.
GUIDELINES FOR CONTEST:
- All works must hang on the wall, pedestal works will not be accepted.
- Gallery split: 60/40 (60% to artist, 40% to gallery).
- Artwork may not exceed 28”x 28”x 10” deep, including framing.
- Image submissions – 72 DPI Jpeg. Please title JPEGs: your name, title, framed size and retail price.
- JPG’s emailed to: susantibbles@yahoo.com
The PayPal invoice will follow your submissions.
ENTRY FEE: $35, additional images submitted at $5 each via Paypal.
It is not necessary to have a PayPal account. PayPal accepts credit cards.
GUIDELINES FOR ACCEPTED WORKS:
Art must be properly wired, with eye-screws or D-rings,
Saw-tooth will NOT be accepted.
Proper picture wiring and framing will only be accepted.
Quality frames will only be accepted.
Works will be disqualified at the in-gathering if framing or wiring are not up to standards.
All works shall be for sale. Gallery splits a 60% to artist 40% to gallery.
In-gathering of accepted artwork, March 6th, 9:00am.
Giclee’s on canvas will not be accepted.
Prints on Aluminum and panel are accepted.
