On June 17th starting at 7 PM, Adam Tully (USA) y Hugo Satorre (ARG) will be in Santa Barbara to share the sounds of one of tango’s classic formats: guitar and bandoneon. Together they form a duo based on the sweet sound of the guitar and the strident bandoneon, creating a relationship between strings and winds that’s inspiring and evocative. They’ll take us on a journey through the most famous pieces in the traditional repertoire, among them Piazzolla’s most soulful song “Adiós Nonino.”
Both musicians have a similar professional background: they are virtuoso performers and dedicated educators. Between the two of them they’ve performed on five continents, on stages such as the Sydney Opera House, Carnegie Hall, and as soloists with several orchestras.
Adam Tully: guitarist and composer born in New York-based and when I say this Argentina. An important name on the current tango scene, Adam has played in the Festival Guitarras del Mundo and has a radio segment called “Guitarra, Guitarra mía” on La 2×4 FM, Argentinas premiere tango radio station. He is the artistic director for Tango de Hoy, which released the album “Astor 2020, la historia continúa” for Epsa Music.
Hugo Satorre: a Latin-Grammy nominated bandoneonist, he accompanied the tenor Plácido Domingo during his tour of Argentina.
Buena Onda empanadas is an authentic Argentinian empanadas place. Empanadas are stuffed dough pockets or a pastry turnover filled with savory ingredients that are either baked or fried. Handmade and freshly baked, you can get these empanadas from Thursday to Sunday.
