Fine Food Feeds Hungry Kids’ Needs
Share Our Strength Serves Up the Annual Taste of the Nation
Two years ago, almost 1 in 6 children suffered from hunger in the U.S. This year, that number has become a shocking almost 1 in 4. Fortunately, 100 percent of the profits for Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation fundraiser go to helping solve this dilemma, so it’s worth attending the Sunday, May 23, 3-6 p.m. event at the Montecito Country Club. Not only will you be doing a fine thing for the hungry children of Santa Barbara County, but you’ll also have a fine time yourself, enjoying food and drink from many of the area’s finest, including Square One, Root 246, Bacara, Ca’ Dario, Beckmen, Carr, and Qupé. As usual, there will be silent and noisy auction items to bid on, and this year there’s a new feature: a martini and cigar bar area. Said the event’s chair, Jessica Knight, “Taste of the Nation brings together the finest of Santa Barbara’s culinary world and helps the children in our community who suffer from hunger every day.” Tickets are $65 in advance or $75 at the door (if available) and can be purchased by calling (877) 26-TASTE or visiting TasteOfTheNation.org.
