Human Rights Challenges: From Congo to California
The exploitation and violation of humans has been occurring for centuries. For the past 30 years, Human Rights Watch, an international organization devoted to protecting the rights of folks around the globe, has stood up “with victims and activists to prevent discrimination, to uphold political freedom, to protect people from inhumane conduct in wartime, and to bring offenders to justice.” This Wednesday, May 5, at 7 p.m.,Vicki Riskin, chair of the Santa Barbara Committee for Human Rights Watch, will give a talk on “Human Rights Challenges: From Congo to California,” in which she will speak to how, in this divided world, an international organization like Human Rights Watch strives to end abuses and advance human rights for all.
