Dons Net Café Advances in Super Bowl Commercial Contest
Student-Run Business at S.B. High Moves to Second Round
Dons Net Café, a student-run business at Santa Barbara High School, advanced to the second round of a contest where the grand prize is a commercial spot during the Super Bowl. High school senior and CEO Jesus Terrazas discovered the contest, “Small Business/Big Game,” while searching for ways to expand. The contest has attracted thousands of small businesses across the country, according to SBHS teacher Lee Knodel, but Dons Net Café appears to be the only participating student-run enterprise. Dons Net Café is a product of the Regional Occupational Program and has been committed to ethical commerce and “service learning” projects for 20 years. Anyone can vote online in the contest by visiting smallbusinessbiggame.com. Voting ends October 13.
