Goleta Teen Flips Car, Arrested for DUI
Three Others Injured in Saturday Accident
A 19-year-old Goleta resident was arrested for allegedly driving drunk after flipping his car on Camino Manadero just east of Patterson Avenue at about 10:35 on Saturday, January 12.
Three passengers were in the 1997 Acura Sedan, and while all escaped serious injury, all were injured and one was taken to the hospital. Jeremy Santizo, 21, of Santa Barbara, was wearing his seatbelt in the front passenger seat, and received cuts and abrasions on his forehead and neck, and treated at the scene for his injuries. Mark Brosnan, an 18-year-old Santa Barbara resident who wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, received cuts and abrasions to his right elbow and shoulder, refused treatment.
The driver, Carlos Alberto Ruiz, who apparently wasn’t able to maintain control of the Acura as it veered to the left off the roadway where it struck a wooden fence and flipped onto its roof, was treated at the scene by firefighters for pain to his right ankle, and was arrested for felony DUI and booked into County Jail. He allegedly had been drinking alcohol.
