Resort Tidbits
Biltmore back, Bacara Basques, Stonehouse... not back yet
A season for everything … The Four Seasons Biltmore has reopened
its restaurant after a surprisingly speedy renovation. There is now
only one dining option — in the location of the former Patio
Restaurant — but as long as Martin Frost is still executive chef
(he is), we’d be happy to eat in the parking lot. 1260 Channel Dr.,
969-2261.
Basque uprising … Bacara’s Miro has rolled out a new
California/Basque-inspired menu courtesy of chef David Garwacki.
Though some of the selections might seem familiar, most are more
adventurous — the likes of skate wing, dry-cured pork, halibut
cheeks, all paired with unique flavors like curry, verbena, or
madeira — at least by Santa Barbara standards. 8301 Hollister Ave.,
968-0100.
Meanwhile, back at the Ranch … Renovations still continue at the
San Ysidro Ranch. It now looks as though fans of the Stonehouse and
Plow & Angel will have to wait ’til August for them to reopen.
(Perhaps the Biltmore could lend them a contractor?)
