Elings Boondoggle

What is the city getting into here? The tennis court giveaway to Elings was supposed to save the taxpayers money by shifting maintenance costs to Elings. Now Elings wants to tear open the earth beneath a landfill that produces toxic gas and create buildings that the city will have to monitor for gas levels until there is no more gas (when hell freezes over?).

Why do we taxpayers have to pay $1.3 million for gas venting/monitoring in Elings parking lot and another proposed $300,000 for a water pump to benefit Elings while the park turns around and raises our yearly tennis permit fees by more than 300 percent? It surely looks to the average Joe taxpayer that the fix is on between Elings and the city government what with all the S.B. politicos on the Elings board. Of course, what do we know? Just that we end up paying for it.
