Following the passage of Proposition 30, the Santa Barbara school district returned to the bargaining table with its unions and restored all seven furlough days for employees, including five instruction days for students, stretching their year from 175 to 180 days. Because teachers already gave up two professional development days at the beginning of the school year, they will have to work two extra days after summer vacation begins for their pupils on June 7.
