“From Ashes to Opportunity”
June 27 Forum Aims to Teach Green, Fire-Resistant Rebuilding Practices
Hosted by the Community Environmental Council, “From Ashes to Opportunity” is a forum that will encourage survivors of Santa Barbara’s recent wildfires to rebuild their homes using proven fire-resistant strategies as well as to make their new homes environmentally friendly and energy-efficient. Participants will learn to save time and money during the design process of their new home, and how to make the most of their insurance settlements.
Fire officials and representatives from building organizations will be available to share resources and answer questions regarding the building of new fire resistant and sustainable homes, proper landscaping pre and post fire, and fire loss prevention for existing homes/properties. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, at the First Presbyterian Church, which is located at 21 E. Constance Ave.
