Saint Anne’s Place, Little Owl Advance to Downtown Sound Finals
We Crown Two Winners at Night Two of Battle of the Bands Semi-Finals
It’s official. The semi-finals round of our annual Downtown Sound battle of the bands is a done deal, and we’ve got four solid contenders moving on to next week’s finals round at SOhO on Thursday, October 20.
Wednesday night’s semi-finals lineup brought some seriously diverse acts to the SOhO stage, including a great set of well-crafted pop rock from Ralph Torrefranca, a full-on and fog-filled hard rock assault by S.B. staples CarriedBySix, a swelling and instrumentally rich show from Little Owl, and a whole lot of dizzying guitar work and impressive vocal leaps via Lompoc’s Saint Anne’s Place. At the end of the night, Little Owl and Saint Anne’s scored the most audience votes, and will be moving on to next week’s finals alongside Tuesday-night winners Blue Suns and Islay Street.
Prizes for Thursday night’s winner include a spot at this year’s New Noise Santa Barbara Music Festival, an on-air “Localize It” spotlight on 92.9 KJEE, $5,000 worth of guitars and gear from Ernie Ball, a prize pack from Instrumental Music, apparel and schwag from Arbor Collective, recording time at Playback Recording Studio, a chance to score a one-record recording contract with S.B.’s LeRoi Records, and a profile in The Independent’s 2011 Santa Barbara Band Guide.
Tickets for Thursday’s finals showcase at SOhO can be purchased online at newnoisesb.com. All proceeds benefit the New Noise Music Foundation and the reopening of all-ages venue The Living Room.
