Gang Member Caught With Gun, Drugs

Santa Barbara gang member Benjamin Ybarra, 35, was arrested Tuesday on charges of being a felon in possession of a gun and ammunition, and for manufacturing a controlled substance, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department. Prior to Ybarra’s arrest, detectives served a search warrant — for weapons, narcotics, and indications of gang participation — at his house on the 900 block of East Ortega Street. Inside, police found a loaded .32 caliber handgun, marijuana, and equipment for making marijuana into hashish oil. Ybarra was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail at $180,000 bail.
