Gun Show Loopholes
As a veteran of World War II (801st Military Police Battalion), I would like to know when our lawmakers in Sacramento will wake up and close gun-show loopholes in the law.
Any homicidal maniac can get a weapon by going to a gun show and presenting his money to the seller there! Gun shows don’t require any long-forms or questions to determine one’s fitness to own a firearm. Twenty-five percent to 50 percent of the vendors at most gun shows are unlicensed dealers in firearms. No background checks are required by unlicensed sellers.
Ten percent of the guns used in crimes by juveniles were sold at gun shows and flea markets. You can buy a gun – no questions asked. I’m not anti-gun, and have in fact given guns to my daughter and sons, and received one from my great-grandson; but they are responsible people. By one report, 53 percent of private sellers sold guns to purchasers who said they could not pass a background check!
Semi-automatic and automatic weapons (machine guns) guidebooks sell for $7.95 to $29.95, with no background check required by unlicensed dealers in gun shows.
AK-47s (submachine guns) replacement parts are sold at gun shows from $4.99 to $49.95. Assault weapons (used in attacks by the military) are apparently back on the market. You can get one by going to your local gun show!
